Pause (dir. Tonia Mishiali, Cyprus/Greece)
In a desperate attempt to escape from the misery of a loveless marriage, Elpida finds refuge in a fantasy world of vindictive violence towards her oppressive husband. When a young painter is employed to paint the building she lives in, she finds herself confronted with her unquenchable desires, her body and the husband she has no love for. Soon fantasy and reality start to blur. Can a pause result in a new beginning?
Senior Citizen (dir. Marinos Kartikkis, Cyprus)
Theoharis, an old, lonely man, spends every night on the benches of the hospital outpatients’ wing. Every morning he returns home, with his cat and memories as his only companions. One night he is discovered by a young nurse who tries to help him, but he is sceptical and refuses to give her any information about himself. However, gradually, a relationship of trust begins to develop between them. A film about loneliness, old age and the marginalization of the elderly.
